You gotta look out for your back boy, Cause the river's raging on and on and on, You gotta look out for your back bay, Cause the river's raging on and on and on. You may be falling apart at the seams boy, but the fiver's raging on and on and on, I said you may be falling apart at the seams boy, but the fiver's raging on and on and on, The face staring back at you don't recognise the pain in your eyes, but the fiver's raging on and on and on, The face staring back at you don't recognise the pain in your eyes, but the fiver's raging on and on and on, The dragons of fire may come to take away your soul boy, but the fiver's raging on and on and on, The dragons of fire may come to take away your soul boy, but the fiver's raging on and on and on

She was young and free, Her hair flew out behind her like ribbons when the wind blew, Her eyes were like saphires sparkling in the sunlight, And she heard the city calling her, Come and play, come and play, come and play now, Come and play, come and play, come and play now. Be careful your feet are on fire be gentle or else you will tire. So she went and played, She met up with her friends and went to party, And they knew how to party, They danced and drank and jived in the sweaty night The city ground shook with the rhythm of their feet, Every single cell in her body was pumping through the atmosphere, And the city called Come and play, come and play, come and play now, Come and play, come and play, come and play now. Be careful your feet are on fire be gentle or else you will tire. She met a guy, he seemed to be a nice guy He was wearing tailored clothes, his shoes were shiny. His smile made her feel so good, And they danced and shimmied into the night, And they danced and shimmied into the night, Come and play, come and play, come and play now, Come and play, come and play, come and play now. She went back to his apartment, It gleamed with silver and stainless steel and soft leather, She was alone, she was alone with him, And he called Come and play, come and play, come and play now, Come and play, come and play, come and play with me now. But she didn’t like his game, He hurt her, he hurt her bad, Now she’s starting to think, Where will she wake up? Will she wake up at all? And the city called Come and play, come and play, come and play now, Come and play, come and play, come and play now. Be careful your feet are on fire be gentle or else you will tire.

You slide next to me, I step to the right, You put your hands on my hips, We rock 1,2,3 And then we agree To fall over. We slide to the left I look to the right, We turn 360 degree. You give me a wink And I start to think, That I might fall over. Be mine, be mine tonight, I’ll try not to cause a fight, I know sometimes I can be difficult, But I know you know that I know you know that I am worth it. Follow me, follow me home, I want to show you my collection of darts. Then we can rumble through the night Before we crash and stumble into the morning sunlight.

Summer sounds like this to me The rhythm of the the crashing see, And you are standing next to me The afternoon goes on and on And there is no way we could be wrong I sing you another song As we watch the world go round. I feel my feet burning on the sand As I run down to the shore The water’s cool and I plunge down deep I can feel my heart going beepity beep. I turn around and you’re right behind me You take me in yours arms, You kiss my mouth with your salty lips Oh the summer tastes like this. The heavy rain hits the hot dry earth And steams up round our feet, You take my hand and squeeze it tight And I know everything is going to be right I feel your love and it warms my soul, I breathe the air in through my nose, The sweet aroma is like a drug, Oh the summer smells like this.

In the Pōhutukawa tree, My love and me, Flowers of red are drifting down, Birds and bees are all around. The waves are lapping on the shore, The sun is way up in the sky, And we are lying in your arms, ThePōhutukawa charm. If we could be here forever then I’d be fine, If we could grow old together then I’d be fine.

I’m going down to the sea my friends, I’m going down to the sea, The tide is going out for me my friends, The tide is going out for me. The water may be cold but I won’t feel lonely for you The water may be cold but I won’t feel lonely for you.

Walk me down through the shadows Let me sit in the breeze, Let this wave of fear pass over, Thoughts of you will always be near to me. I hope and pray that you’re still there, Even though I know you’re gone, A hole the size of Egypt, Has opened in my heart. Walk me down through the shadows Walk me down through the shadows Let me sit in the breeze, Let this wave of fear pass over, Thoughts of you will always be near to me. I scuttle round the edges, Trying so hard not to fall in, Looking for a place to get stable, Got to find my own self within Walk me down through the shadows Walk me down through the shadows Let me sit in the breeze, Let this wave of fear pass over, Thoughts of you will always be near to me.

Oh honey I have travelled down this road, Travelled with you one too many days, And now I’m tired and cold, And I’m lonely in your arms, Baby you just gotta let me go The bar could hold us up when I met you, We drank all night and played until the sunrise, But now my time has come to be sitting in the sun, Oh baby you just gotta let me go. Don’t wanna know what’s going on in your mind, A little scared of what it is that I might find, I’ve loved you all this time And that ain’t gonna change, But baby you just gotta let me go. Don’t make this into something that its not, I gotta use all the time I got now, And I know you to well, To know that you can’t change, Oh baby you just gotta let me go.

about

Floating Trees Paekakariki, New Zealand

The river rages on is a collaboration between Shona Jaunas and Samuel Harmand. Samuel lives in France and Shona lives in New Zealand but they try to hook up somewhere in France as often as they can. One special place is a campsite right on the banks of the Dordogne where they played palet, swam and jammed. Finally in 2014 Samuel came to New Zealand, and over a month they produced the album. ... more
